Visalia dispatch reports Evans and Sontag, infamous outlaws, finally met their match near Stoney Creek, with Sontag wounded in three places and both men eluding capture as of dawn. Four officers battled the pair. Jackson wounded in the leg, others uninjured. a posse followed Evans’s trail while Sontag is jailed in Visalia.

Supervisors appoint education board members and approve stipend
The Supervisors appointed F. M. Graham and Mrs. Miller to one year and F. S. Benson and J. H. Berry to two years on the Board of Education. Mrs. Clements is allowed ten dollars per month until further notice. Warrant No. 1448 to D. Hoenschel was cancelled. The bond committee reviewed the citizens' report and recommended adoption of the required amounts and arrangements as stated.
