Negotiate for Peace in Strike Along New Lines
Chicago June 3 Negotiations along new lines for a settlement of the teamsters strike were under way. A five member Teamsters Joint Council committee with full power to secure a peace compact with department stores awaited a similar merchants committee. The teams committee was appointed after General Moody’s instructions were sent to Rear Admiral Train in Manila about the Russian vessels Aurora Oleg and Jemtchug. they must be interned. The committees planned to ignore express companies if the Employers Association would join. President Shea denied knowledge of the new plan. Parmelee Transfer Company drivers threatened to strike but decided not to. fewer than fifty of 400 backed a strike.
