Tragedy on Grand Trunk: Thirty Die in Wanstead Wreck

A head on collision between a passenger Pacific Express No. 5 and a freight train near Wanstead Ontario during a blizzard left thirty dead and many injured. Fire was extinguished with snow and coats. rescue crews rushed to London hospitals as identities were being sorted amid mangled wreckage and missing crew.

Owl Cut In Two By Coast Limited Train Crash

A coast limited train collides with the Owl south of Los Angeles near Tropico at 3:45 AM. The Owl is cut in half and derailed but no one was killed or injured. the crash halted operations for about an hour. Both engineers offer conflicting accounts as investigators review speed and distance.

A Illinois Central fast passenger train bound for Cincinnati from New Orleans crashed into a work train at Caneyville eighty four miles from Louisville. Three men killed and two injured. Fire destroys major block in San Pedro. two men die

Fire in San Pedro California today swept through the business section, destroying about 25000 dollars in property. One half of the prominent block was burned out. Two lives were lost laborer W B Swa and retired sea captain M O Andfindsen whose charred remains were found this morning.

Strike breaker found murdered in New York area

The decapitated body of John Wax of Pittston was found on Lehigh Valley tracks near New York. A Wilkes-Barre dispatch to the Herald says the murder appears likely since no injuries from being struck by cars are evident on the body.

Another Victim of Byron Wreck

Mrs Emily Mayer, a Byron wreck victim, died in San Francisco today at Souther Pacific hospital. Her death makes the fourth family member to die within a week from the collision injuries. The Mayers were Fresno hotel keepers traveling to visit relatives when the crash occurred.

Witness Under Threat During Coal Strike Dynamite Attack

A wax worker faced repeated threats of bodily harm and his home was among the many dynamited during the coal strike. He testified before the strike committee, and suspicions have been aroused about the violence surrounding the dispute.
