Fred Schmidt was caught burglarizing R J Taylor's house on K street just before 3 am. Mrs Taylor's scream alerted her brother in law and neighbors joined the struggle. Schmidt was downed, bound with ropes, and turned over to the sheriff after threats of hanging.
A man identified as a cook has been drinking heavily for several months, with the pattern described as ongoing and concerning by those familiar with him. The report notes his occupation and duration of the drinking habit.
The Woman's Club announces the Fifth Annual Reception with the Alba Haywood Concert Company providing the program. After the concert, attendees may stay for dancing or adjourn to Solomon Jewett's residence for card games with prizes and refreshments. The 187% deed lists William Lightner as board chair and F W Craig as county clerk, with £25 paid for the survey. The old deed had been overlooked when supervisors reconveyed one third to Bakersfield and one third to Kern City last year.
