Burglars have hit Belay's Owens' Saloon and Conklin & Bakers' all in Bakersfield. Breaks in rear windows yielded small sums from tills and slot machines, with the same method repeated. Officers suspect a single offender or group. residents urged to secure windows and doors.
The Register commends Bakersfield for finishing with spirit despite a hopeless start. It notes the team has the material but needs work and discipline, suggesting daily training and endurance runs.
