Temblor Shakes City to Its Foundations
John H. Bonnington, former Assemblyman and Democratic leader in Kings, was assaulted in his New York office by Wm Seims, son of a banker. Bonnington, hospitalized with severe scalp wounds, is expected to recover. Seims, 20, was arrested after confessing intent to rob. The attack began when a skylight was broken and a rope lowered a man into the building. a struggle left Bonnington unconscious. Seims was found in his father’s office on the same floor. Bonnington is a prominent Mason and state Knights Templar leader.

James Williams Arrested on Insanity Charge
Officer Stroble found James Williams wandering in Kern appearing crazed and brought him to Bakersfield then to Sheriff Kelly. He is Hamp Williams’ brother living near Caliente. Not demented but prone to epileptic fits. he wandered off during a fit and was held at the jail until his brother is heard from.

In Hagerstown Maryland the Hancock area was jolted by a quake at about 10 o clock last night causing houses to rock and windows to rattle residents were alarmed. The seismic disturbance was felt in nearby Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Earthquake Shocks Rip Through Bally Area
A strong local quake struck Bally this afternoon with two light tremors followed by a heavier shock at 2:23. Buildings cracked, dust filled sidewalks, and workers and pedestrians froze in panic as the north to south wave traveled through town.
