Justice Stephen J. Field has ordered the clerk of the Circuit Court of Appeals to notify Judge Matthew P. Deady of Oregon Judge EF M Ross of Southern California and Judge H C Hanford of Washington that they must sit as circuit judges for the term in San Francisco beginning January 1, 1892. Federal officials say this practically postpones presidential appointments of the two circuit judges until next year.
The back warehouse of Baker & Hamilton's hardware establishment in Sacramento burned from 4 a.m. loss to stock estimated at 60,000 to 70,000 dollars insured for 50,000. The building owned by Wm H Howard of San Francisco was destroyed but insured for 8,000. Main store stock damaged by smoke and water. Two firemen were thrown from a scaffold but not seriously hurt.

Gales shifted cargo and left the ship on her beam ends for hours, injuring several crew members. In Marysville, A P Barnes longtime citizen and prominent local businessman died this morning, leaving a wife and two daughters.
