City Trustees Agree on Permits and Fire Hose Purchases
The city trustees met with Mayor St. Clair approving permits for a 40 by 75 frame building in block 245 and a 40 by 1154 corrugated iron structure in block 247. Licenses were granted to F. W. Lynwood and Ed Tibbets for liquor sales. A long discussion settled on buying 350 feet Bay State and Victor Jacket hose and 300 feet Revere hose for the fire department. Sunset Tel Co gained no action on 20 foot poles. petition withdrawn. Street openings and sprinkler maintenance were ordered, and a list of claims including Electric Water Co and Union Ice Co was allowed.

Suit to Condemn Panama Slough Abatement Action
District Attorney Ahern filed to abate a public nuisance from the Panama slough crossing multiple city blocks. The suit targets all landowners along the slough, cites three years of stagnant water and malodorous conditions, and seeks a court order to permanently stop the nuisance and require its abatement. If contested by Henry Miller or others, a lengthy legal fight may follow. James Cogan formerly with Lord & Taylor has joined Redlick Bros as floor superintendent.
