Caliente reports William Shipsey a Piute Mountain resident was thrown from a bronco while inspecting a mine with a Los Angeles mining expert. The horse ran away, threw him from a bluff onto rocks, breaking three ribs and causing internal injuries likely to prove fatal.

In a preliminary examination in the Superior Court, Ysabel Molina a Mexican man charged with murdering Ramos appeared nervous and unrepresented. Eyewitness Ernest Detrich and bar keeper J R Bailey testified to Molina’s quarrelsome mood and the fatal shooting, while witnesses including G A Tibbet, Alfred Harrell and W D Young testified to Molina’s confessions. The prosecution rested and Molina was remanded to jail without bail to answer in Superior Court.
