United States Senator John H. Mitchell died in Portland Oregon at 11:40 AM after a dental extraction led to a severe hemorrhage. He had long suffered diabetes and other illnesses. four physicians fought the bleeding but could not halt it and he succumbed in the hospital despite temporary relief last night.
Berlin reports Premier Witte has submitted his resignation to the emperor, who refused to accept it. The ailing senator suffered a severe vomiting spell and signs of mortification appeared, ending in death at 11 40 this morning. Mitchell did not grasp the gravity of his condition, while a dental extraction led to a violent hemorrhage before death. Geo. Fowler of Hanford is in town on business.
Windsor Vermont December 8 Mrs Mary Mabel Rogers was hanged at the Vermont state prison for the murder of her husband Marcus Rogers at Bennington on August 13 1902. The execution followed two reprieves and a United States Supreme Court refusal. Witnesses were limited and the scene was tranquil as the trap was sprung and the sentence carried out.

Walter Warner was executed at San Quentin State Prison for the 10 June 1904 murder of Marie Tomaya in Santa Barbara. At the scaffold he claimed the shooting was accidental and said this was the happiest day of his life. He was 20 years old and smiled as the black cap was drawn.
Atlanta December 8. The first legal execution in Fulton County history for criminal assault occurred at the tower today. Jim Walker, convict in the assault of Mia Alica Moore, wife of a white merchant of Athunta, was hanged.
Thomas F. Ryan, first witness before the insurance investigation committee, says he bought Hyde stock to avert a feared collapse if the Equitable were placed under a receiver. He notes Harriman sought a share, refused, and denies threats. Ryan explains trusteeship of stock, mentions directing Paul Morton’s presidency, and states he does not sell securities to the Equitable.
