Mexican in Paleto shooting case tied to saloon fight
Ysabel Molina, a Mexican man, confessed to a CALIFORNIAN reporter in jail that he shot a man after a dispute at Silvia's saloon near Paleto. He said the other man tried to pick a fight, and he went outside to confront him, claiming the killing was done and unavoidable. Molina was captured after a countywide hunt, disarmed by Deputy Sheriff Jack Douglas and brought to town. He described traveling with blankets along the Oil Wells Paleto road and being tracked by Hathaway brothers and Al Hulse. He spoke of prior wanderings and denied knowledge of Ramos’s death. Molina claimed he was heavily intoxicated the night of the shooting.
