In Stockton California on December 5 1902 labor unions vow to ban Chinese andJapanese workers after January 1 1903. The Blacksmiths Union passes fines for members dining where Chinese or Japanese are employed and the Federated Trades approves the measure. Other unions will follow with similar resolutions.
Queenstown dispatch reports the British ship Leicester Castle from San Francisco arrived with news of a mutiny on September 20. Three American sailors W A Hobbs Ernest Sears and Jack Turner murdered Captain Peattie or second officer Nixon during the raid then fled on a raft 300 miles north of the Pitcairn Islands. Hobbs identified as killer of Nixon. the mutineers loaded a week’s provisions before launching the raft.
Tejon Parlor N D G W hosted a banquet for Grand President Miss Eliza J. Keith and Grand Secretary Miss Laura J. Frakes. The officers were greeted by a ladies’ delegation at the train and escorted to the Woman's Club hall for a T shaped banquet table and meeting. Seven applications were ordered to take the usual course and three new members were elected.

San Francisco Dec 5 President Harriman of Southern Pacific unveils a pension system for longtime workers aged 70 with twenty years service, aligning with Pennsylvania Illinois Central and Chicago Northwestern. Pensions equal 6 percent per year of the ten year average salary, reaching about 30 percent for thirty years of service. Between 61 and 70, disabled workers with twenty years service may retire via a pension board. No employee contributions. company funds pensions while Harriman's leadership fosters strong labor relations across the system.
Charles Spaulding, a Wells Fargo express messenger, vanished after leaving the Third and Main offices at 7 15 PM for the Santa Fe station. A wagon with money packages was found abandoned in East Lake Park with a broken strong box and torn envelopes. No sign of a struggle. Spaulding had joined the company in mid November from Chicago and his bond will cover losses. Police search the city. reward not specified.

United States Minister Albert E. Buck died in Yokohama from heart paralysis while on a duck hunt with the Emperor. He collapsed suddenly after a netting incident and expired without a groan. Buck had a known weak heart. flags were at half mast and his funeral was scheduled for Monday, with Secretary J. M. Ferguson in charge.
The four-masted schooner Wesley M. Iler went ashore during the storm at Hatteras Inlet life saving station. She pounded in the surf until 8:20 a m when the foremast fell, likely taking the last man. The life saving crew could not save the crew and no bodies had washed ashore yet.
