Millikin, a Kern County Land Company fence rider at Poso Ranch, killed his wife and son then took his own life about two miles from Delta School House. Bodies found by company employees after no signs of life since Sunday. Coroner Buckreus notified.
A committee of Native Sons raised funds months ago to buy medals for California volunteers in the Spanish American War. Medals distributed to Kern County owners, with 900 dollars owed to Company G from the state for allowances and debt at muster. Original 106 members, many no longer in residence. public presentation planned soon. M Hougham, Duncan son-in-law, arrives from Illinois to settle in Bakersfield and lease a corner storefront at 18th and Chester for a grocery.
Supervisors fail to elect a horticultural commissioner with about a dozen candidates receiving only single votes each. The impasse continues as no candidate gains majority support in today’s session.
Trustee Fish led the meeting with Chairman St Clair absent. Celsus Brower proposed gifting city land for D street extension between 17th and 19th streets, contingent on $100 spent to improve the street next year. The board quickly accepted. All bills went to the finance committee. A light at N street and Railroad avenue was referred to the proper committee. Warrants totaling $395 for city officials’ salaries were ordered drawn.

Since 3 o'clock yesterday Mc Kittrick Oil Company disposed of over 4000 shares as the stock is offered for sale. A directors meeting Friday evening will decide steps for immediate boring of a new well.
