Edward Kripp, Bakersfield resort keeper and Sacramento ball team former manager, faces divorce from Mrs. Kripp with Miss Clara Glenn as co respondent. Depositions from Bakersfield and Los Angeles allege Kripp ran a keno game and a gambling house. Glenn formerly Miss Kripp. Mrs. Kripp seeks custody of two children, $7,000 settlement, and decree terms to be reviewed by Kripp’s counsel.
The Woman’s Club will host a Friday card party at the club house on December 7. An annual New Year’s Eve reception will feature century themed costumes from 100 years ago and fashionable attire for the new century.
After the basketball game Visalia was hosted by Bakersfield High School girls who gave a tour of the building. At 7 p.m. all gathered in a room to sing until the train departure, making the visit the most enjoyable part of the day.
Tennessee travelers Lr. E. Carder and his brother rode freight to Kern County seeking oil field work. An accidental train collision injured Carder last evening. His left hand index finger and a toe were amputated at the county hospital while his left foot suffered severe crushing. The men, not true vagrants, were beaten by their journey toward the oil fields when a misstep sent one to the hospital.
