New York market shows wheat firmer with December at 105 and January 1063. March rises to 1093 and May to 110. Similar gains noted in Curiao with December at 92 and May at 99. San Francisco reports wheat quiet with buyer season prices around 192 and 184, barley easy at 1203 and seller 91 at 113.
Washington on December 1 reports a long conference between Mott Smith and Secretary Blaine on the proposed reciprocity pact. The treaty aims at absolute commercial freedom between the two nations and is seen as likely to be submitted to the Senate before Christmas.
A 150 foot span of a Great Northern railway bridge at Kalispell Montana collapsed today. Fifteen workers fell with it five were instantly killed and several others were expected to die. In Phoenix, cattleman Geo W Marlow killed himself this morning, domestic troubles cited as cause. Supreme Court opened cases challenging the McKinley tariff bill in Washington.
