Maryland Flyer Missing Lieut Beauchamp in War

Mrs. Oliver T. Beauchamp of Princess Anne received War Department notice that her son Lieut. Oliver T. Beauchamp aviator has been missing in action since August 1. The telegram offered no details aside from ongoing updates. He trained at Fort Meyer and Columbus before sailing for France in 1917 and served on the firing line near the Marne, reporting German casualties and American victory.

Ford's Newest Naval Weapon Eagle 1 Launched

Detroit August 5 1918 first of Henry Ford submarine destroyers for the US Navy launched at River Rouge Eagle 1 204 feet long larger than prior destroyers described with details on construction propulsion and fuel. Ford comments on launch saying more vessels follow and the project shows utility over ornate design.
