Affidavits filed in Indianapolis outline an unlawful conspiracy claim between West Virginia union coal miners and operators. Borderland Coal Corp seeks an injunction to restrain United Mine Workers from organizing in Mingo County, and to set aside any wage agreement between the union and operators nationwide.
Chicago, Oct 29. Railroad executives said carriers will press wage cut plans through the Railroad Labor Board hearings despite unions’ claim that their strike suspension followed the Board’s rule not to consider pay reduction petitions until working conditions for the class are settled.
Chicago October 29 The 600 trainmen strike on the International and Great Northern Railway operating in Texas has been called off according to a telegram received by W. G. Lee president of the Brotherhood of Trainmen.
Kenneth R. Losey twenty-year-old Wesleyan University student from Middletown Connecticut was stabbed to death in a fight. His body was found floating in the Niagara River Thursday night, with the medical examiner Earl Damzer confirming the cause.
Marshal Foch will observe the prohibition law in the United States and travel without intoxicants using only water at meals. Interactive precinct returns show R A Nestos leading Governor Lynn J Frazier by over 24 000 votes in the recall race with about one third of state precincts reporting. Early totals from Fargo indicate Nestos 90 902 to 65 955. The recall vote count update follows later in the Omaha bureau bulletin.
The independent forces showed a net gain of 108 votes over the Non-Partisan in Fargo, North Dakota, with continued coverage on page five.
Kansas City Mo Oct 29 The National Americanism Commission of the American Legion will urge the convention to adopt resolutions calling for a five year halt to all immigration to provide a breathing space to assimilate aliens already in the country.

The Oct 29 Vancouver bulletin reports 35 known dead and missing at Britannia Beach, feared to reach 50. A cloud burst flooding Howe Sound town and sweeping away parts of Britannia Beach, with doctors and nurses dispatched by steamer. The mining town has about 7,500 residents.
Flood waters from the Coquitlam River inundate a section of Port Coquitlam, four teen miles east of Vancouver. Bridges washed out and traffic tied up. Vast damage feared across an extensive area.
SAN DIEGO Oct 29 Federal bank examiners ordered Peoples National Bank closed after charging Dr M Fly president and cashier Oliver W Bowe with embezzlement of large sums. Fly is reported in the East and not located. Bowe was placed under arrest on the charges.
The Fresno Morning Republican editorial notes that Japan sees no favorable outcome for immigration issues in California and likely does not want a solution. It argues Tokyo has deep information networks and would rather concentrate emigration within the Far East, deeming the California question not an immediate priority.
