Train collision near Plainsboro kills 13 and injures scores
Thirteen people died and numerous others were injured when the Pennsylvania Express Train bound from St. Louis to New York collided with a Washington New York train two and a half miles from Plainsboro New Jersey in dense fog. Eleven bodies were recovered. The Washington train slowed to 10 mph as the faster train plowed through two rear Pullmans. Victims were trapped under wreckage cut away by acetylene torches. Passengers from Trenton hospital assisted at the scene. The Washington train had six coaches and three Pullmans. its engine remained on the track while the other train traveled at 50 mph.
