Arab rejection of the United Nations cease fire order in Palestine was reported today though Syria asked a 36 hour delay. The Jews accepted the order if seven Arab states comply. An Arab League official said they would stop only if the Jewish Army is halted and partition shelved. The pro visional government of Israel must cease to function for Arab states to bow out. The United States and Britain urged Egypt to honor the cease fire.

Body of Seaman Ralph Mott found on Mount Juneau
The body of 20 year old Seaman Ralph E Mott was recovered on Mount Juneau after a multi party search. Volunteers and Navy officials joined aerial and ground teams in locating the missing sailor who vanished after climbing the mountain with four others. The body was brought down to the Basin Road and prepared for transport to Mahaffey Pennsylvania. Local officials and the boy's father attended the recovery and identified the remains. The search involved U S Coast Guard Wachusett, Forest Service, and Navy personnel from Fort Lewis Washington. The incident followed days of heavy rain and rising rivers in the Pacific Northwest.
