Federal Judge J Neterer filed an admiralty decision on a 1918 collision between the Pacific Steamship Company's steamer Admiral Watson and the fishing boat Helgel at Ket chikan. The navigator of the Watson was found at fault. negligence did not justify the Helgel in continuing. Half of damages and costs were assessed against the steamship company.

Grover C. Bergdoll a Philadelphia heir convicted of violating the selective service act and serving a five year penitentiary sentence escaped late yesterday from a lawyer's office. Police and military authorities co operate in a city wide search as Bergdoll vanished into Philadelphia traffic.

Gen Venustiano Carranza the deposed Mexican president was killed by his own guard in a Puebla mountains village after being captured near San Andres. Obregon officials confirmed the assassination as Carranza fled south with a small escort, ending a dramatic chapter in the Mexican revolution.
Frank H Hitchcock former Postmaster General and Bernard Baruch financier were summoned to testify before the Senate campaign expenses committee as representatives of Leonard Wood and William G McAdoo. Hearings set to begin Monday in Washington.
