In Dallas on May 20 the Episcopal Committee of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the South exonerated Bishop James Cannon Jr. by 54 to 11 after finding stock market speculation charges unsubstantiated. Cannon apologized, saying he fell into a group of sharpers and would not repeat the action.
