Alaska Delegates Instructed For Dewey At Republican Meet
Delegates from Alaska to the Republican National Convention in Chicago on June 26 were instructed by the Alaska Territorial Convention at Skagway to vote for Gov. Thomas E. Dewey as the presidential nominee. The convention also backed a strong statehood plank, and elected delegates Albert White, G. A. O. Bandy, and Moritz Andresen to Chicago with alternates Nels Strand, E. E. Robertson, and Mrs. E. A. Rasmuson. Divisional committeemen were named, and Anchorage chosen for the 1946 Territorial convention. The harmonious Skagway session re-elected E. E. Engstrom as chairman and Robert Atwood as permanent secretary. The platform urged Congress to enact a practicable enabling act allowing Alaska to form a constitution and state government and be admitted to the Union, with a constitutional convention to follow.

Coast Guard Auxiliary Outing Heads to Admiralty Cove
