Tornado Toll Rises to 86 in Oklahoma and Texas
The death toll from tornadoes across Oklahoma and Texas reached 86 with four new deaths in a sequence of twisters. In Oklahoma City a tornado hurled a house 150 yards killing Gladys Downs. Kim Chappel, 24, John Chappel, 71, and Mrs Hodges died when the Chappel home was demolished despite the residents seeking shelter.

Institutions Observe Hospital Day Across Two Local Hospitals
National Hospital Day on May 11 will be marked by St. Ann's hospital tomorrow with open house 3 to 5 pm and a special program for visitors. On Monday the Government Hospital on Willoughby Avenue will open 2 to 4 pm with no planned program. For the ten months ending May 1, 1930, U S Hospital records show 243 admissions, 4,974 patient days, 1,161 outpatients treated, and 119 operations, all higher than prior years per Dr W J B McAuliffe. St. Ann's program includes community singing, dedication by Rt Rev J R Crimont, an address by Gov George A Parks, and various musical selections led by Mrs L Norton, Miss Muriel Jarman, and Max Pishmann with accompaniment.

Detroit May 10 Jack Thompson Oakland negro defeated titleholder Jackie Fields in a blistering ten round world welterweight bout before fifteen thousand fans. Fields faded after a strong second round push and Thompson became the first negro to win the title in 29 years. Fields earlier threatened a knockout but could not finish the champion.

Two Men Fined for Liquor Law Violations in Cordova
In Cordova Alaska on May 10 Mark Thompson pleaded guilty to a liquor violation and was fined 350 dollars. J H Murle from the guard pleaded guilty and fined 400 dollars. The grand jury returned two secret indictments and charged Paul White with larceny of furs of Charles Wallen who was found frozen to death near Gulkana. Indictments were also brought against Robert Davis for first degree murder of Tom Williams near Kanatak, Simmie Dirks for larceny at Kodiak, and J F Bogart Jr for making a false claim against the Government.
