In Los Angeles on May 1, stains on the lid of a trunk belonging to Leland Wesley Abbott will be tested by the County Chemist for human blood. Abbott, 33, is held for investigation in the so called torso murder case linked to a young woman found near the Los Angeles River. He denied knowledge of the murder and was brought to the city after warehouse workers reported statements about going East and harming his wife.

Plane in flames injures passengers in midair
In Palo Alto on May 6 a monoplane piloted by Lieut W H Brown caught fire after exhaust line trouble.
