New Blows Struck at British Berlin War Dispatch

May 1 report claims German High Command sunk a British cruiser a destroyer and five transports and damaged another cruiser and five transports. Germany reports capture of material and 4900 prisoners in Norway including 40 Britons and 3500 Norwegian Division soldiers at Lillehammer. German Bomber Crashes Over Clacton on Sea

London reports a German bomber shot down over Clacton on the Sea. its mine payload exploded in the town center killing five crew and three civilians, injuring more than 100 others and destroying three homes during a civilian raid.

Storms Kill Fourteen Across Midwestern States

Fourteen people died in wind and rain storms that battered six states including Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Kansas. Census Gain Reported in Fairbanks Districts

Census Supervisor J P Andreson announced a population rise in the Fairbanks Recording District with a total of 5649, up from 3597 a decade earlier. Koyak District declined to 281 from 289, while Otter District increased to 390 from 353.
