Berlin reports Cologne says Allies consent to let Germany deploy 100000 troops in the Ruhr to combat the Reds. If insufficient, 60000 Allied troops from Britain France and Belgium will reinforce. Allies promise the Benin government order will be maintained and industry allowed to operate.
On March 27 Bolsheviki forces advanced along the Stutcher river, capturing villages while failing to cross the river. Patrick King in Chicago naturalization court renounced allegiance to Britain and King George and, by order of Judge Kavanaugh, to the republic of Ireland and De Valera. The judge said the action recognized the de facto government with consent of about nine tenths of Ireland.

London March 27 The Oxford track team defeated Cambridge in the track field meet, but lost the eight boat race to Phat University. American Rhodes Scholar students at Oxford contributed to the winning efforts, marking the first meeting of the two English universities in athletics since 1914. The meet concluded today.

Fish packers oppose the Chamberlain bill for harming private lines. Canadian firms allegedly diverted Alaska business to Prince Rupert, affecting Ketchikan and other American towns.

Washington March 27 R M Semmes traffic expert for the Alaska Territorial Shipping Board told the Senate Commerce committee that Alaska needs home rule more than Ireland. He urged passage of the Chamberlain bill to give control over ships in Alaska waters and warned Canadian interests seek to dominate Alaska transportation. Maurice D Leehey supported the bill noting Canadian lines and private interests could still operate but American lines would be protected to provide year round service and better prices.
Senator Wesley L. Jones of Washington criticizes a Canadian steamship official who claimed Alaska business would go to Canada. He asserts that Americans should prevent such a shift and protect U S interests.
