Former Notre Dame President Rev John Cavanaugh Dies
South Bend Ind March 23 The Rev John Cavanaugh former President of Notre Dame died in the Community Infirmary on the university campus. He led Notre Dame from 1904 to 1919 during a major expansion period and retired after a canon law change. He died of nephritis complicated by diabetes. He was a nationally known writer orator and educator.
