Corporal John C. Potts of Seventh Infantry was shot and killed by Staff Sergeant Joseph Koziol at Chilkoot Barracks Lynn Canal after a fight during a card game. Koziol, born 1890 in Poland, entered service in 1912 and left no survivors. Potts, born 1908 in North Dakota, lived in Devon Montana and served since 1925.
