President Roosevelt vows to veto the Senate version of the veterans and government payroll bill. indications suggest a compromise may keep veterans allowances and salaries within his budget, but he will reject the Senate proposal.
Mrs Franklin D. Roosevelt drew cheering crowds in St Thomas as she continued her West Indies inspection trip. She arrived by seaplane from Port au Prince after stops at San Pedro, Dumacoris, Santo Domingo and San Juan, covering about 1,258 miles since leaving Florida. The plan called for another hop to St Croix and a return to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
San Francisco March 8 The business sun was bright on the sunset slope of the continent during February despite the belief of a general business set down. February business shows a gain over the same month last year for the Pacific slope and reports from some districts show an increase over January.
Mrs. Nellie Tayloe Ross, director of the Mint, resigns from the Democratic National Committee representing Wyoming to avoid even the appearance of conflicts between public service and party identity. Her action ends her formal ties with the party organization.
