An unfinished oil well near St George Utah exploded injuring many and killing nine people who were watching the first well blowout. A nitroglycerine charge had prematurely detonated ripping the derrick from its moorings and a wall of flame swept over the crowd.
Don ald R Richberg NRA chief outlines administration views urging the Senate finance committee to extend the Blue Eagle agency for two years with codes limited to industries actually engaged in interstate commerce He proposes 17 legislative measures including powers for the president to impose limited codes minimum wages maximum hours prohibitions on unfair practices and natural resource protections.
The 1935 British Navy estimates sent to Parliament propose building three cruisers one flotilla leader eight destroyers and three submarines to enlarge the fleet amid ongoing defense spending debates in London.
John Stayton, a miner in Alaska's Ruby district, was fatally injured by falling timber while working in a fume. An airplane crew reported the accident, and authorities described the fatality as a work-related mining incident.

Seattle March 7 Operators of Alaska shipping lines and union reps have reached agreement on wages ending demands for a fifty percent increase. The strike is believed averted and officials will announce details when the pact is signed Saturday.
New York stocks closed modestly up with a firmer tone despite cautious trading. Alaska Juneau Mining at 16 percent, American Can 117, General Motors 6.28, Bethlehem Steel 25, United States Steel 31, International Harvester 3.8, Armour N 4, Bremner 56 bid 61 asked, Nabesna 1h bid 100 asked.
President Roosevelt has told aides to stop introducing administration drafted bills. Instead Congress members will write most bills, with the White House sending only brief messages. Croydon England March 7 a reward of 10000 dollars is offered for information that solves the theft of 107000 dollars in gold from the Croydon airdrome safe. The incident is described as a dramatic loss at the airfield.
