Senate Democrats unify to act as one on Capitol Hill. In response to the national emergency they pledge cooperation and approve a rigid caucus rule. If Roosevelt needs it, Congress may grant him extraordinary powers to act alone.
Albert Duckwitz, once steward of the Tanana Club in Fairbanks Alaska and connected to a New York family, killed himself after failing to find work. He took poison then shot himself at a San Francisco hotel. He left two sons living in Tacoma and said in a note he was not a moocher but had been a successful businessman who could not find employment.
Denver authorities disclose two alleged gang members charged in the Charles Boettcher Jr kidnapping for $80,000 remain jailed. Two other accomplices are identified and awaiting arrest in South Dakota.
New York March 7 The executive committee of the Board of National Missions of the Presbyterian Church U S A approved a 21 percent reduction for 1933 34 lowering the total appropriation to about 2 8 million dollars. General secretary Dr E Graham Wilson noted the smaller sum reflects current economic conditions and will begin April 1.

They permit limited reopening of banks with new deposits and require repayment in full on demand deposits while withdrawals are kept separate from other funds.
