Alaska lawmakers convene in Mayday for a 60 day session as the Eleventh Legislature debates economy measures and a beer tax. Key figures include Secretary Karl Thetle and Senators Alfred Lomen N R Walker, with plans for eight hour laws and relief reform. If enacted beer manufacture and sale would be regulated and taxed.
Berlin reports show Adolf Hitler and his Nationalist movement dominant as Reichstag and Prussian Diet elections approach. About 35,000 Hitler Storm Troops marched through city streets while the government continued suspending Communist newspapers.
March 4 Democrats hold 58 seats, Republicans 3, one party Labour. Walsh vacancy to be filled will give Democrats 52 members.

New York March 4 there'll be lively times at the White House when the nation's first family gathers. The Roosevelts comprise four generations with 15 members in the immediate family. The President and Mrs Roosevelt head the clan, with children Anna James Elliott Franklin Jr. and John. Also in the household are daughters in law and son in law Mrs Jane Roosevelt Mrs Elliott Roosevelt and Curtis Dall and four grandchildren Anna Eleanor Curtis Roosevelt Dall Sara Delano Roosevelt and James' little girl and William Donner Roosevelt Eliot's baby son. The Dalls will live at the Roosevelt town house East 65th Street New York while James and his wife and baby daughter reside at the White House in Cambridge Mass. The elder son is in insurance in Boston Elliott in advertising on Park Avenue with his wife and son. Franklin Jr. and John attend Groton with graduation for Franklin Jr due in June and Harvard for John after Groton. In addition to the Roosevelts, in Washington the household includes Miss Marguerite le Hand and Louis Howe two secretaries. Miss Hand as secretary since 1920 has lived with the family and an apartment was provided on the White House third floor. Howe, a longtime adviser, lived with the Roosevelts and spent weekends at his own home. Continues on Page Three.

In Honolulu yesterday a rogue elephant at Waikiki Zoo killed keeper George Conradt age 60. Police then shot the elephant with rifles after the attack. Conradt had been unemployed three months and was to be rehired as keeper before the incident.
Olympia March 4 The House and Senate Appropriation Committees finished drafts of the general appropriation bill totaling 32,660,555, about three million less than the current biennium. Legislation typically approves committee reports with minimal changes. The Senate Roads and Bridges Committee backed a 16,400,000 budget for highways in the coming biennium.
