British submarines in Far Eastern waters torpedoed and likely sank a 7,000 ton Japanese aircraft carrier. The carrier, escorted by three subchasers, was hit amidships after an initial miss and a second torpedo explosion caused a violent explosion. The ship heeled and is believed sunk.
