Washington March 1 The House Merchant and Marine Committee approved adding three cutters and 15 airplanes to expand Coast Guard and Geodetic Survey facilities in Alaska. The bill funds three 2,000 ton cutters with at least 2 knots speed and planes with 2,000 mile cruising range. It also authorizes a Coast Guard Base Air Station at a site the Coast Guard will choose.
