Joint Army and Navy air raids on Kiska raise prospect of imminent invasion. Six raids hit the camp Friday, with 16 attacks in three days. Bombers on Saturday started large fires and damaged anti aircraft guns while air escorts flew with them. Navy observers say the enemy garrison may be feeling the pinch of the Attu blockade.

Letimite was born in 1886 in Hamburg, Germany.
London June 28 Canadian regiments including infantry detachments reached Britain in the last convoy. The units were loaded with reinforcements and armor to bolster Allied forces abroad.
Washington dispatch reports President Eisenhower authorized to act and use full power to curb the French quarrel between Generals De Gaulle and Chrowl. Allied leaders fear the dispute delays North Africa operations and risks vital Anglo American supply lines.
Washington June 28 Furl Coordinator Harald K Tekes told the House Ways and Means Committee the government desires and expects to return the mines to private owners at the earliest possible moment. He said the opportunity will come when operators are ready and miners will work for private owners. The coal strike has spread to a few more regions despite the new law and rising cheers over the coal.

Norw egian sources report rumors that six German submarine crews mutinied at ports in Northern Norway and refused to sail. They were sent to a military prison. The disclosure notes naval disaffection as a major factor in the collapse of German resistance in World War I and marks the first mutiny report among German naval forces in Norway amid sagging morale.
