Indictment Filed Against Ex Naval Officers in Espionage Plot
Los Angeles June 24 Toshio Miyazaki a former 2 Lieutenant Commander in the Japanese Navy and Thomas Thompson a former U S Navy petty officer were indicted by a grand jury on conspiracy to violate the espionage act. The charges allege nineteen overt acts including Thompson entering the U S Naval Training Station on August 26 1934 taking papers from a bulletin board and disguising as a navy officer to board battleships at San Pedro and San Diego. Information allegedly was turned over to Miyazaki for a fixed salary with other unnamed participants implicated.

Two Matanuska Colonists Now Self-Supporting
Falmer Alaska June 25 Ross L Sheely manager of the Matanuska Colony said two colonists Virgil Eckert Minnesota and Joe Publ Wisconsin have no further need of government credit. The families became self supporting by selling milk and vegetables and doing outside labor. They pooled land clearing efforts with two others to build homes and now each has a good farm.
