On June 25 at Harbor Grace Newfoundland the Southern Cross plane landed at 5 57 am due to fuel lack preventing a New York flight. Four aviators drifted in dense fog for over an hour before surfacing. Captain Kingsford-Smith credited wireless bearings from Belle Isle for rescue. After refueling the crew planned a New York departure and a later flight toward San Francisco.

Twelve-Year-Old Scout Found After Four Day Mount San Jacinto Search
Riverside, Cal June 25 A 12 year old Boy Scout Har old Johnston trudged into Snow Creek at the foot of Mount San Jacinto ending a four day search by 150 foresters, several planes and fellow Scouts. His clothes were torn and his body bruised yet he survived after sliding down from the 10 000 foot peak. He asked for food at a fish hatchery and said he had not eaten since Friday after straying from the beaten path. Johnston and 48 other Scouts had hiked to the summit to view the sunrise. I just wanted to look for something and got lost.
