British Vessels Sunk by Insurgent Air Raider near Valencia
Two British ships, the freighters Sanion and Thropness, were sunk near Valencia Harbor by a lone Insurgent air raid. Sanion burned for six hours and sank. all 32 crew, including a German observer, were rescued. Man shoots wife then himself in Los Angeles double tragedy

Navy cruiser Louisville to visit Juneau for five days
The 10,000 ton Navy cruiser Louisville with a crew of 42 officers and about 600 enlisted men will arrive in Juneau on July 6 and stay until July 11. A communication to Major Harry S. King Carol May Remarry Queen in London Talk

Joe Louis retained his heavyweight title by stopping Max Schmeling in the first round at Yankee Stadium.
