Beaver skins authenticated this morning at the U S Game Commission office by EB M Goddard for Axel Peterson and Bert Goodpastor of Tacoma. Eighteen skins were issued for Mr Peterson and ten for Mr Goodpastor.
Olympia reports another craft joining the Capital-to-Capital race. The Yankee Bay, 41 feet long and owned by George Richard of the Queen City Yacht Club in Seattle, has entered for the Olympia to Juneau event, bringing the total entrants to nine fast boats.
In Newfoundland on June 9 the voyage to England is postponed due to unfavorable weather. In New York on June 9 Mian Bell and two male companions await favorable conditions to depart from Columbia to Gold Orchard as the first leg of a proposed Atlantic crossing.
Six leading Mexican librarians travel in the United States under the Carnegie Endowment and the American Library Association. Led by Esperanza Velasquez Bringas they plan to visit 12 cities with renowned libraries and attend the American Library Association meeting in West Baden Indiana. John T. Vance of the Library of Congress will guide them through the Library of Congress, Congress Hall, and the New York Public Library, discuss mutual benefits of exchanging library methods, and note Mexico Citys National Library holds about 760 000 volumes including rare items from the Spanish era.
Judge Hastings holding the prony of Senator DuPont predicted a Coolidge landslide among Delaware delegates at the Republican convention in Kansas City. Delaware expects 17 votes from Connie Mout as part of the Connecticut roll call and supports Coolidge’s renomination. Senator Norris of Nebraska says the Muscle Shoals veto could fuel a third party surge.
PMDEN Germany June 9 Dr Gmelin a physician on Wyk on Fohr Island in the North Sea reports finding iodine in milk from cows and sheep grazing on the German west coast islands. He notes amounts from one fourteenth to one twenty third grain per quart and links the presence to salt radium and iodine emanations from the North Sea during low tide.
Miss Eva Ardia who taught at Ruby last year arrived on the steamer Yukon last night. She will visit Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Henderson for about a week or ten days before continuing to her home in Michigan's Bend for the summer. Miss Ardia plans to return to Alaska to teach.
An earthquake measuring severe state rattled Cordova Alaska at 12 20 yesterday morning waking residents. No damage was reported though several slept through the shock. Local authorities said the event was among the most intense in recent months with no injuries or structural harm recorded.
June 9 Primo de Rivera the Premier and Dictator of Spain ends his engagement with Senorita Mercedes Gertilianos aged 47 after she was seen on the Stock Exchange buying securities with two men. The official notice disrupts social circles.
Two Alaska Republican delegates to the National convention at Kansas City passed through Butte on their way to the convention. James Wickersham of Juneau and Dr W H Chase of Cordova were met by Captain A B Lathrop of Cordova who had preceded them. Chase aids man Metcalf fully recovers from a fainting spell on the train.
The Southern Cross arrived in Brisbane at 4 10 pm Pacific time amid wild cheering from an enormous crowd. The crew, though exhausted by a night of severe turbulence reaching 4000 feet, were in good spirits and thanked the crowd. A message from Prime Minister Bruce noted a grant of 26000 dollars. The crew apologized for the delay and praised their Yankee colleagues.

Lindsey calls disbarment a malicious political ploy linked to Ku Klux Klan influence.
Mrs Elihu Root died at her Fifth Avenue home in New York last night after two years of illness. The long prominent widow of Elihu Root was known in social and civic circles. Her death ends a noted New York matron’s long public life.
In Columbus on June 9 Been individuals are funding Charles Bangham's education at Ohio State University and paying for his brother's tuition. The two became beekeepers in high school and now maintain 20 colonies in Wilmington. Last year they sold two tons of honey. Charles says he has never been stung by the bees.
Washington June. President Coolidge accepts the resignation of Robert Otis Under-Secretary of State effective July 1. Otis steps down after serving in the department, with the administration noting the move as a routine personnel change.
A devastating blaze on Kilisnoo Island near Juneau destroyed most of the Indian village and the Killisnoo Fisheries plant facilities. About 225 Native residents are homeless, with only limited food and supplies available. Relief shipments from Juneau arrived, led by Captain Ken Talmadge, as officials coordinate aid and assess damages.
