An Army Air Forces statement reports that a B-29 from the 1eth Reconnaissance Squadron crashed near Fairbanks shortly after takeoff from Ladd Field.Three crewmen died, nine others survived with no serious injuries. Lt. Lawrence Bennett Lt. Bruce Marshall and Lt. Carl Carlson are named among the deceased. An Army board will investigate the crash findings.

Tornado devastates Pine Bluff area killing dozens
