Chicago delegates at the Political Progressive Action conference agreed to start a third political party. The La Follette plan was adopted for organizing the new party with a name to be chosen later after adjourning Saturday night.
Fairbanks reports G. V. Goss of Tanana plans to send himself Solomon Bascom and dog team Gascom Sport and the original sleigh from the serum race to the United States for film or stage work. Kascon Kasson in Nome to depart for Hollywood with his famed racing team to join a motion picture project.
In South Bend Indiana on February 23 a band of five robbed the Millburg Michigan bank of 2900 dollars in currency and 52000 in bonds. Posse pursuit spanned 40 miles with pistol and shotgun duels lasting three hours. Four bandits were wounded and the five captured with all loot recovered at New Carlisle Indiana.
President Coolidge announced on Saturday the plan to invite nations worldwide to join the United States in observing the 200th anniversary of George Washington in 1992. The announcement came from the committee appointed to arrange the celebration.
LAKEHURST February 23 The dirigible Los Angeles returned shortly after midnight Saturday night from Bermuda. It was unable to moor at Hamilton due to adverse weather.
Gainesville Ga February 28 Norris Moore dies Saturday night from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Friday night involving Col W P Simmons former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan in Gainesville.
SAN PEDRO Cal February 23 Half the U S navy will take part in what is billed as one of the greatest sham battles in American history off the coast of Lower California between February 25 and March 12 The Pacific battle fleet based at San Pedro will meet the eastern scouting fleet in a maneuver involving 13 battleships 120 scout cruisers destroyers and other war craft with about 40000 men The meeting is expected near Magdalena Bay with Admiral Coontz observing from the Seattle The fleets will unite after the exercise and head to Los Angeles harbor for overhaul before sailing to Hawaii in early April
Major General James Harrison Wilson, last of the Union and Confederate corps commanders, died at his Wilmington home. A famed cavalry leader, he captured Jefferson Davis and led Wilson’s raid through Alabama and Georgia. A West Point graduate and noted author, he later wrote with Charles A. Dana on General Grant. Born 1837 in Illinois, his career spanned engineer, railroad work, and service in the Spanish American and Boxer campaigns. Continued on Page Seven.
DoJ agents disclosed investigations into Senators H. O. Bursum of New Mexico and Selden P. Spencer of Missouri for alleged violations of the same ethics law involved in a land jury case against Senator Burton K. Wheeler. Spencer faces charges over aiding a Department of Commerce contract with Foulke Fur Co. of St. Louis for seal skins. Bursum is tied to a War Finance Corp agent linked to cattle sales in Mexico. Spencer asserts no personal gain and notes his firm’s ongoing association with the fur company head.
PARIS February 23 Osborne Wood son of Gov Gen Leonard Wood of the Philippines reported missing last Saturday since Monday was said to be at Biarritz as a guest of Charles Wacher in France.
Washington, Feb. 23. Over 286000 skins valued at 2000000 dollars were shipped from Alaska last year, the Biological Survey reports. The average price dropped from 1922, but the 1924 total value rose. Mink led with 29556 skins worth 334356 dollars.
The body of Capt. J. S. Gibson chairman of the Seattle Commercial Mission who died at a Manila dance will be sent home on the steamship President McKinley. Howard M. Lewis named to succeed him as chairman as the commission continues its itinerary.
Lieut. F. L. Hayden, injured in Friday's car accident at Corregidor Island, continues to improve and is virtually out of danger as of February 23 in Manila.
In Cairo on February 23, a village near Damanhur named Rahmania saw 500 huts destroyed by fire. Thirty people were killed and 38 seriously injured as the blaze wiped out most of the Rahmaniya settlement.

William M Jardine of Kansas has been nominated and confirmed as the next Secretary of Agriculture. He began as a Montana cattle puncher at fifteen, attended Utah Agricultural College, taught there, and since 1918 has led Kansas Agricultural College, serving also on the President's Agricultural Conference.
Olympia dispatch reports Cov Hartley has reappointed Shanrive A Thompson as Adjutant General in Washington state on February 23. Thompson continues to lead the state military department.

Nome reports lifting of the diphtheria quarantine on Saturday as the American Legion Dance and the first post epidemic movie show resume. Public Health nurse Miss Morgan will stay a month, inspecting pupils at schools opening today and weekly. Two new cases among Pete Larsen’s children are noted with no alarm.
