Seattle February 4 One million units of antitoxin for Nome left this morning on the steamer Admiral Watson. The antidote is wrapped and taped to prevent freezing. Dr Magruder of the Public Health Service said 2 100 000 units are en route to Alaska. Of this amount 625 000 will be carried by Roy Darling on his flight. the rest by dog teams.
Attorney General Harlan Fiske Stone began studying Alaska's crime and liquor problems and suggested sending a Special Agent to gather firsthand data. He noted an abundant liquor supply and rising salmon piracy harming small firms while conferring with Delegate Dan Sutherland.
On the Alameda that passed through Juneau last night for the Westward there are 1 100 000 nits of antitoxin to be rushed from Seward to Fairbanks and split in two shipments for Nome. One shipment will be carried by Darling.
The present condition of the Nome diphtheria outbreak shows improvement from peaks reached earlier, with health officials noting better case management and reduced spread, offering cautious optimism amid ongoing containment efforts.
The joint rules committee reported favorably on a bill to appropriate 167000 for payment of bonus claims to several hundred veterans excluded from benefits by the previous bonus law for being professional soldiers. The Hartley forest policy meeting urged tax cuts to aid lumber industry and backed government ownership and loans for reforestation. A Senate-passed budget bill, backed by Gov. Hartley, faced no dissent. Dan Landon of Seattle quipped it would cost about 20000 and do little good or harm.
In Cave City Kentucky Floyd Collins is trapped under a rock in a narrow passageway since last Friday. Miller, a Louisville Courier Journal reporter, guided a fourteen person rescue team through an eight inch crevice while rescuers gathered jacks and equipment from across the nation. Collins reports his foot is free but his leg remains trapped and weak.
Collins told Courier Journal reporters of nights shouting for help and voices seeking his rescue. He said a blanket given through a small opening gave comfort, and he continued to try moving rocks while rescuers chipped away at the rock. He has been unconscious most of the time since Sunday.
Dr. W. H. Hazelet of Chicago arrived by airplane in Cave City to perform an operation on Colling if deemed desirable and practical. The trip was financed by Mrs. Emmons Blaine of Chicago.
Washington reports describe an elderly Bannock widow named Ah inhgeeyane at Chief Pat Tyhee’s burial near Fort Hall Idaho. She stood in near zero snow for hours slashing her bare legs with glass as a traditional grieving rite, an old practice said to be fading among the Bannock and not to be interfered with by the Fort Hall Indian Agency.

Seattle February 4 A 40 year old carpenter E L Manheart wanted in the Morley murder in a taxicab here last Sunday morning of Mrs Lillian Helen Morley of Victoria was arrested at the County and City Building by deputies while Sheriff Matt Starwich sought his surrender.
The Washington Senate approved a memorial urging Congress to extend Federal aid to highways in Alaska as requested by Governor Scott C. Bone. The move calls for continued funding and support for Alaskan road projects.
Nome Harbor Washington February 4 Army Engineers allocate 40000 of existing funds for improvements to the Nome harbor.
Olympia Feb 4 Gov Roland Hartley described pardons and paroles policy stressing humanitarian aims. He backed parole with intermediate sentences and said paid attorneys would not influence clemency requests while petitions via official Parole Board channels would receive consideration.
SAN FRANCISCO February 4 James Dean an ex convict from Walla Walla Ray Jenson and Davie Hallanan and wife were arrested as suspected accomplices in the plot to free Milo and Ariel Eggers suspected rum pirates. Ariel Eggers was shot during the escape Milo Eggers and two accomplices fled and remain at large.
The United States Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed Dr Frederick Cook s conviction for using the mails to defraud in oil schemes. He was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and fined fifteen thousand dollars. His wife has since secured a divorce.
A coroner's jury in Yakima Washington finds responsibility for a crossing accident near Prosser that killed three high school students rests with the Northern Pacific Railway operative department. The train's engineer and conductor were arrested following the verdict.

Col Charles R Forbes former Veterans Bureau director and John W Thompson St Louis contractor were each sentenced to two years in Leavenworth and fined 10000 after fraud convictions in hospital building The judge granted a 30 day stay for appeal He criticized Forbes failure to testify and noted his wartime record while denying a request for the Distinguished Service Medal.
Wenatchee dispatch reports Mrs. Rose Kornbilt of Manson recounts Leon Trotzky born Leon Brunshtoen’s youth in Russia. He shared his wealth with poorer students, aiding their plight, and his jailers ordered execution before sympathetic peers helped smuggle him out in a tunnel.
