A government operated Eero Lineas plane crashed near Mar Del Plata during a regular flight to Buenos Aires, killing seventeen people and leaving an eight year old girl as the sole survivor, severely burned and injured. The victims are believed to be Argentine.
At Hav erford Pa a report to the American Astronomical Society describes radio waves coming from the sun’s corona, not the sun itself. Attu Island observers during a total eclipse detected signals at four wavelengths, revealing extreme coronal temperatures and that sunspots emit radio noise, a puzzling finding scientists hope to solve in future eclipses.
Frank Metcalf announced the January 15 deadline for purchasing 1951 Alaska auto license plates with penalties after that date. City Clerk C. L. Popejoy said 240 plates have been sold to date. last year around 2,000 plates were sold in the Gastineau Channel area. Territorial license fee is 19, city license 5, and 1951 auto property taxes are collected at purchase.
