Washington December 29 Representative Martin F. Smith of Washington state says he will introduce a bill on Congress opening day to relieve Finland in further payments on its debts to the United States and to loan the amounts it has already paid. Finland borrowed 8 280 000 and has paid 5 656 000 in debt and interest.
Prospect of the Dionne quintuplets being reunited with their parents and seven siblings in 1941 grows after Dr Dafoe retires from the Board of Guardians. Ontario must accept the resignation, sources say, and a settlement was reached dropping suits against Dafoe. Dionne says the mother and I are happier than we have been since the babies were taken five years ago.
San Francisco dates show the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Company has declared a dividend of 15 cents per share for this quarter. The payment mirrors the previous two quarters and will be payable February 1 to holders of record January 10.

Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt was nominated to succeed the late Heywood Broun as President of the American Newspaper Guild. The unanimous decision was approved by the Guild's Denver Executive Committee and telegraphed to the international executive in New York. Local boards may nominate under by laws.

HELSINKI, Dec. 29. The Finnish command reports 600 Russians killed in a Kelja battle as Red Army forces push along the Leningrad Railway near Lake Suvanto on the eastern Karelian Isthmus. Finns say 300 Russians fell in another lake sector where two Red Army battalions were dispersed, with five tanks destroyed, two captured, and several attacks smashed.
