LeRoy Vestal 31, U.S. Envoy’s son, and fiancee Adrid Crowell were shot in Dr G L Barton’s Gastineau Avenue home. Crowell killed herself with a .32 revolver after shooting Vestal around 1 40 p m. A note suggested premeditation but gave no motive. Crowell left a purse note mentioning a Norway contact as authorities pursued a theory of a concealed gun.
