In San Francisco on December 28 Fred Fulton defeated Sam Langford over 14 rounds. Fulton used his tall frame to dwarf Langford, while Langford battled hard and kept the bout competitive throughout various exchanges.
Gov Thomas Riggs Jr Delegate Charles Sulzer and Alaska Attorney General George Grigsby flew over Washington today in a Curtiss H model airplane piloted by Lieut Clifford Mooers of Seward. Mooers, training at Barron Field Texas named for the first Alaska boy to die in the war, gave the passengers a series of stunts and aerial displays.
The Captain of the Port ordered suspension of New York harbor whistles that have greeted returning soldiers. Spectacular water curtains and fireboat displays at the piers are prohibited as the noise disrupts vessel warping and navigation.
General Peyton C. March announced that more than 111,000 American soldiers have been designated for demobilization since the armistice. Officials expect about 100,000 more to be designated within a week, signaling a rapid drawdown of forces.
Montevideo dispatch reports Maximilian agitators prompting two cavalry regiments to encamp near central railway stations and several more regiments stationed in the city outskirts.

A Japanese cable from Honolulu reports Tokyo will pull Japanese troops from Siberia, likely tied to Allied decisions not to mount a major venture in Russia. Also, the British Admiralty says Calipso has captured two Bolshevik destroyers in the Baltic, with one vessel bombarding Reval before capture and its crew taken prisoner.
The West Coast Lumbermen's Association has authorized the incorporation of a fir production board to handle future Government orders. The board will act as the Government's agent to meet material needs for aircraft and ship manufacturing.

Coalition government led by Lloyd George appears to have won a strong majority in the House of Commons with 396 to 144 seats. Charlotte Despard loses a parliamentary bid to Richard Morris as a coalition Liberal.
New York dispatch reports Carlo Tresca of the Italian Revolutionary Group stating Italy stands on the brink of revolution to overthrow the monarchy and form a democratic republic. He says the Italian Socialist Party will push for a Constituent Assembly and land reforms, with the Republican Party backing the move.
Tacoma December meeting of state leaders for land settlement good roads and social service calls a reconstruction Congress to convene January 8 and 10. The group will address securing public lands for soldiers and locating and employing surplus labor when the Congress meets.
In London at Guild Hall, President Wilson rejects a balance of power and urges a concert of power to secure global peace. He cites Allied unity, praises American soldiers, and aligns with British leaders toward a single framework guiding postwar order. Lloyd George voices strong enthusiasm over the talks.
