Nordling Yule Display Wins First Award

Homer G. Nordling of 531 West 42nd Street won first prize for the most beautiful outdoor Christmas display as announced by the chamber of commerce decorations committee after inspection. The Arctic village display was colorfully lighted. Second prize went to Tom Allen of 612 West 10th Street for two lighted trees and third to Trevor Davis of 114 Sixth Street for a lighted tree. Honorable mentions included Charles Harland, Walter Bathe, and Mike Hendrickson for their lighted stars.

Baby Clipper Flies South from Juneau to Seattle

Pan American Airways clipper took off from Juneau for Seattle via Ketchikan at 11 25 this forenoon. Captain Mattis said the flight could continue to Seattle or divert south based on weather after a stop at Ketchikan. The aircraft had arrived yesterday from Ketchikan delayed by snow and poor visibility. Cakes of salt were once used as money in Ethiopia and Tibet.
