Allied readers report the Teutons are trapped in the mountain front near Monte Asolone in northern Italy. Italian and French forces push to deny a winter retreat as German supply lines falter. Prisoners describe desperate conditions and the army’s need to reach the plains to avoid winter siege and warship threats.
The Empire will not publish on Christmas Day or the Fourth of July. Staff will take a real visit to their families while news carriers stay home from the snow and cold. The paper’s team shares Christmas cheer and extends wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
