Washington December 23 Francis Sayre former assistant secretary of state says three secret documents in the Communist spy case were stolen from his office after a three hour HUAC session. Sayre notes the papers bore a stamp and identifies four office staff with access including himself Eunice Lincoln Anna Belle Newcomb and Alger Hiss. Hiss has been indicted on charges related to denying he waved the papers to Chambers. He is on leave from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace presidency.

Boy Heroically Fights Sharks To Save Comrade
A one year old cabin boy, Russell Latona of Sacramento, leaped overboard near Cape Maisi on December 14 to rescue four year old Bent Jeppsen aboard the Danish ship Grete Maerek. Sharks attacked. Bent died, Latona kept them off with splashes and fearsome effort. He reached shore near Taco, ten miles away, wearing a life belt. Admiral Phillips reports Latona in remarkably good condition and credits the life belt for saving him.
