PAA Men Stranded In Fairbanks During Strike
Weather and a Pan American ground crew strike stranded Joe Godding PAA traffic manager from Ketchikan and Ken Alexander formerly of Juneau now with the San Francisco PAA. They handled steward duties and remained in Fairbanks due to heavy Christmas southbound traffic. Flooded oil stove fire destroys Petersburg bar
In Petersburg Alaska a flooded oil stove started a fire that destroyed Jim Brennan s cocktail bar early yesterday. Firemen quelled a rekindling at 3 a m with two hours of effort. Alaska Communication System building next door was saved by prompt volunteer firefighters. Alaska Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Seattle
An inbound Northwest Airlines DC-4 from Anchorage Alaska made an emergency landing at Boeing Field after all four engines cut out near Seattle. There were 45 passengers and three crew aboard. Pendleton Oregon dispatch reports three members of the Lott family from Walla Walla Washington missing after a flight from La Grande to Walla Walla yesterday. Stanley Lott president of Lott Supply, his daughter Rose 20 and son Wallace 10 are believed down in the Blue Mountains southeast of Pendleton. Six search crews totaling about twenty four men scoured hills near Deadman’s Pass and McKay Creek headwaters while an Air Rescue B 17 from McChord Field waits for weather clear. Lott stopped for gas in La Grande on the Provo Utah to Walla Walla flight before departure.
